“Googly” was the only word nearest to “google” in my childhood, growing years and late twenties. It’s the kind of balling which is unpredictable. I was never a cricket fan. Am still not. So “googly” never meant anything to me. But replace the “y” by “e” and it becomes the lifeline of almost everyone now….
